FLAT FILES

G-Town Arts presents an ongoing program of works on paper and photography available for viewing and acquisition within the PLATFORM space. The flat files—organized collections housed in archival drawers—offer direct access to contemporary practice across drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, photography, watercolor, and mixed media.

The format privileges intimacy and material attention. Works are handled directly, examined closely, and considered at the viewer's own pace, outside the conventions of wall-mounted display. This structure removes hierarchies between viewer and object, creating conditions for discovery that differ fundamentally from traditional exhibition viewing. Each drawer functions as a discrete encounter, revealing work through the physical act of opening, looking, and returning.

The selection reflects a commitment to presenting rigorous contemporary practice across career stages, geographies, and aesthetic approaches. Works are chosen for formal clarity, conceptual integrity, and their capacity to function effectively in conditions of close observation. The program provides visibility for artists whose primary practice centers on works on paper while also including flat media by artists working across multiple disciplines.

All works are available for purchase. The flat files operate as both resource and invitation—supporting living artists while creating accessible entry points for new and established collectors, curators conducting research, and anyone seeking direct engagement with contemporary art.

The flat files are refreshed regularly, ensuring the program remains responsive to current artistic production.

Viewing is available during gallery hours and by appointment.

PLATFORM presents FunctiONArt, bringing together artists and makers who blur the line between what an object is and what an object does. These works refuse to sit still—pieces that perform, pour, hold, illuminate, store, support, or simply surprise.

These objects turn function ON: activating use, humor, and intention in equal measure. Whether designed for the table, the hand, or the daily ritual, each work treats utility as a creative engine rather than a constraint.

FunctiONArt isn’t a craft show—it’s a playful rethinking of how art behaves in the world. Here, usefulness becomes expressive, form becomes mischievous, and the everyday becomes something worth noticing.
